Background
Cinevault is a film discovery platform built for movie enthusiasts who want more than a basic list. We designed a dark, cinematic interface with intelligent filtering, smooth page transitions, and real-time data pulled from The Movie Database (TMDB) API.
The
Challenge
Most film discovery sites are either too complex or too basic. Cinevault needed to feel like a product people would want to use — not just a demo. The design had to evoke cinema, load instantly, and handle large datasets without compromising on experience.
Our
Approach
We chose a dark-mode-first design language, using deep navy and warm amber tones to give the interface a cinematic feel. Films are surfaced through a grid layout with hover interactions, genre-based filtering, and a search system powered by the TMDB API. We used Next.js app router for fast server-rendered pages and optimised images with Next/Image throughout.
The
Result
Cinevault launched with over 10,000 films indexed and achieved a sub-100ms search response time. The immersive UI received top marks from user testing sessions.
